Egba

Picture of the members of Egba Egba was formed in Stockholm in the autumn of 1971. With their pioneering blend of african, latin, funk and jazz they became Scandinavias leading fusion group. They made their first record in 1974 and musicians like Nils Landgren, David Wilczewski, Lars Jansson, Åke Eriksson och Ahmadu Jarr has been members of Egba. The group has toured Cuba, Asia and Europe and memebers of Egba have played in such diverse settings as Abba and the Swedish Radio Jazz Group. In the year 1991 Egba took time-out. Peter Johannesson

Picture of Peter Johannesson Peter Johannesson started playing drums at the age of 12-13. Two years later he met Herbie Hancock backstage at a concert in Stockholm with the american pianist 1976. The two became friends and Peter Johannesson also visited him in USA. They played together in public for the first time 1988 and has since then performed together several times. Hancock is also a guest on Peter Johannessons first solo album ”Sixtus”, released on EmArcy 2001.

Johannessons distinct drumming has also been heard with artists like Svante Thuresson, Jojje Wadenius, Victoria Tolstoy and several pop- and rockacts. Bobo Stenson and Anders Bergcrantz is two jazz artists that has stucked with Johannesson.
